Marist Youth Day 2013

WOOHOO MARIST YOUTH DAY 2013 WAS A BLAST! Sadly, the wonderful annual event or carnival or activity or PARTEH was my final one :'( Dayuum... Actually, my school's pretty good. Celebrating occasions with parties and fun fairs involving the everyone :) It may not be the tip top atas school like Raffles' or Hwa Chong academically, but it is the cool and swag school I wanna be in, a school that enjoys fun! :)




However, just one thumbs down from me. Ever since Marist Youth Day 2012, this event became super boring. Reason being? Children from Touch Community were invited to our school to have fun instead of us... Don't get me wrong, I love cute little kids. It'll be great if they came, but NOT on Youth Day itself :\ When I was Sec 1 and 2, Youth Day was super awesome. No kids, NO RESTRICTIONS! We did haunted house, set up a LAN shop and also a Xbox Arena. Everyone was super on task, scaring people and shit. Costume parades then were hilarious! Marists would dress up as Powerpuff Girls, Tribesmen who were scantily dressed and many cute characters. Now that kids were invited to OUR Youth Day, we were not allowed to play haunted house and all the games catered only for children like bowling and some gay ass stuff... BUT. We are still Marists and we always #YOLO our way through shit, rebelling to the end :) So yeah, Haunted House and all the restricted stuff still goes on :)





Alright, 4 July 2013! PREPARATION DAY! My class likes do things at the very last minute when we will kanjiong spider our way through. It was a super hectic day! First off, our lesson ends at 3.35pm. It was really late. SO, we rushed up our plan and duty roster as fast as possible. We listed all the items we need to get from NEX and dispatched people to "chope" a spot at the TK Low Hall and the basketball court. Right after shit was confirmed, BOOM! We dispersed to get our stuff done. A group of us rushed to NEX to get - plastic bags, shirt, cap, cups, tennis ball etc. Getting the stuff for our stalls were easy. They can be found at the Value shop all displayed nicely for us. The issue was the costume. For your information, the theme for the costume parade was "Inspirational Character" and after much debate, Pokemon proved to be the best choice :) Initially, our plan was to buy a white shirt with collar then paint parts of it blue. BUT NOOOO! Those collared shirts are freaking expensive! And it's true that we don't have to spent so much just for a costume parade. In the end, we managed to improvise and just got ourselves a blue T-shirt :\ Alright! Enough of running around like a headless chicken and head back to school! It's 5pm+ already :(

Back in school, we headed up to the area outside the AVA theaterette to design our costumes. We left our bags outside the infamous haunted art room toilet... It isn't creepy in the day... BUT NOT THE NIGHT! We wasted a lot of spray paint doing up a failed experiment of Pikachu... Never mind that, we'll improvise ONCE AGAIN... The Ash's shirt was the biggest deal for me. I had to precisely cut out the sleeves, do some touch up and make it FIT my school uniform. It was really tedious having to test the costume on myself... PUT IT ON, TAKE IT OFF, PUT BACK ON, CUT HERE CUT THERE... Urgh...




Designing of Metapod was a hell lot easier! I could safely say that because Mr. Artist, Biao Guo, was there to help! All in all, the cardboard costumes were really weird-looking and pretty darn creepy... We worked our ass off till nightfall at around 8pm, when we begin to have or first-hand experience of Haunted Maris Stella... Creepy as hell! We can hear footsteps reverberating from the art room toilet... And scumbag Aeron decides to blast the eerie music from "Eyes Of Horror" (an iPhone horror game). Guess what? The corridor lights blacked out. It was really terrifying especially when you know that you are at Maris Stella's haunted hotspot! Shit got pretty serious when the motion-sensoring lights didn't come back on... "PACK AND GO GUYS!! NO TIME TO WASTE!!" Freaking grabbed all our stuff and scrammed.




Scumbag No.2, Puo Yuan, tried to convince everyone to walk by the main gate. If you don't know, Maris Stella's entire stretch from the main gate to the school's car porch is right adjacent to a columbarium. Many stories were told about that place... Everyone wanted a #YOLO experience so we just walked by the main gate. All of us panicked when suddenly there was an odd number in a row! HAHAHAHA! It was really late already, but I decided to have dinner with the Gaylord :) Once in awhile, should be okay. That's it for the day... Super tired, needa get some sleep! YOUTH DAY'S TOMORROW PEEPO!

5 July 2013. Woke up feeling super excited and fresh! Packed my costume, put on my contact lens and OFF I GO! When I board the bus, there was a guy who seemed surprised at the Ash's signature cap. And one look I can tell, he had a childhood :)




Stepped into my classroom and I can my classmates getting busy with the preparations of the stalls and last mintute touch up on the costumes. Pretty heartwarming to see them putting in their fair share of hardwork :) And there's Roy, blasting music through the classroom's speaker during occasions :)

After all the preparation, the councilor announced for all costume paraders to gather at the back of the school courtyard. My heart was pounding quite hard. I was thinking about all the stuff I should do as I stride down the courtyard with all eyes on me. Then I realized! POKEMON BATTLE SCENE! We managed to plan two battle scenes during the costume parade >:) Alright! LET'S GO PEEPO!

Once we stepped into the parade, the applause was crazy! I felt ecstatic and eccentric! A lot of drama were put to play during the parade, especially the battle scenes :) Firstly, as we passed by the pond, OUT A SUDDEN, WILD MAGIKARP APPEARED! It was really funny watching Pikachu and Magikarp fight HAHAHA! After killing Magikarp, we moved on the the next grass patch... WHAT'S THIS?!?! A WILD METAPOD APPEARED! It was awesome to see Metapod camping there and just using "Harden" all the way :) Okay Pikachu, cook it for the seafood special!

Right after the costume parade, I dashed back to class to change to my class tee. I was so high after the parade I couldn't even think properly :) First, I went to TK Low Hall to help man the food and beverage stall. Business was pretty good! Didn't expect that much people to buy the Cup Noodles and eat them using the boiling water we got from Biology lab! Then there was the "wine". Actually they are just sparkling grape juices in wine bottles. People were queuing up for a "cocktail" HAHAHA! I was the bartender, mixing the cocktail with all the swag I can gather. The cocktail was mix of Heavenly Blue and Heavenly Pink. What I got was purple, so I called it, Heavenly Purple Cocktail. I've gotta admit this, Jia An's cookie were amazing! Craving for them now... SNAP! The cup noodles and drinks were burnt out.

After a long while, I decided to ditch the food and beverage stall and have some fun at the Water Range. We set up a water game at the basketball court whereby people pay money to throw water bombs, shot the water foam gun at us. The initial plan was that, we were the targets. In the end, a whole lot of Sec 1s paid money for us to throw the bomb in their face :) It was really awesome to see dem faces when bitches be dumping water bags in their faces! Mrs Roche, my Sec 2 art teacher, was GAGA over the water game! She was paying a lot to fling water bombs at the kids! I invented the twin bomb with two water bags tied together to lure her to pay more for the shots :) MUAHAHAHA! In the end, kids were getting bored already. SOOOO... Aeron and I got their interest burning once again by doing push ups in the the water range and letting them bomb us with the bags :) At least they enjoyed themselves :)

Alright, the game's over! Time for my class to celebrate! We grabbed a bottle of "wine" and started doing the Yam Seng and Champagne Showers :) It was really fun to pop the bottle and fling the foams around HAHA! PARTY TIME YO!

The celebration was a short yet joyous one :) All of us were killing each other with remaining water bombs HAHAHA! We did a lot of jumpshots and drank "wine" :) Just trying enjoying ourselves legitimately as students of the school :) After the party, we cleaned up the mess and went back to class, awaiting the announcement of the winning class with the most amount of money collected. However, we didn't win the costume parade nor did we win the class which collected the most money. Whatevs~ At the end of the day, we had lots of fun :)




In our classroom, Mr Varella and Mrs De Cruz did the Magikarp Dance :) It was really funny! HAHAHA! We took a class photo as well but one very disappointing thing was that... Samuel walked out of the class the instant we gathered. He was so shy and awkward. He outcasted himself such that he won't have to be in the class photo.... Oh well... The class photo was hilarious! Normally people would scream "CHEESE!". For us, we screamed, "NABUEY CB GL!" HAHAHA! Quoted from the SBS Bus Fight uncle :) Should have seen the look on Mrs De Cruz's face XD!!

After the results were announced, we were rather pissed! HAHA! SO WE HAD TO SEEK MEANS OF VENTING OUR ANGER! We tied a few water bombs, some packed with fruit punch and mango juice, waited for this Indian cleaner to pass by the slope before DUNKING SOME ULTIMATE BOMBS FROM 7 STOREYS ABOVE DOWN TO THE FLOOR! BOOOOOOMMM!! HAHAHA! After launching our artilleries, we dodged and sought cover so that the poor dude wouldn't know who committed the mischief >:)

My final Youth Day was the best Youth Day I have ever had! It was the class unity, the class spirit and the bonds that made me cherish these moments :') We were all having fun together! The preparation and the water games and the costume parade! HAHAHA! This is going to be so memorable for me :) Thanks 4Aloysius! LAST LONG AS CLASSMATES! <3
